Whole Person Wellness

When I started working with a personal trainer, I found it much easier to work towards my fitness and weight loss goals. Everything seemed less overwhelming and my trainer was able to give me programmed workouts that were fun and manageable! The best part about the whole experience is how much better I felt managing personal and professional stress. It was when I accomplished my first round of goals that I decided that personal training is not talked about enough in terms of the mental and emotional health benefits. The trainer I was working with knew that it could make people feel better, but I wanted to explore that further. As a result, I decided to pursue my own personal training certification. Helping improve the well-being of my clients is my passion and my curiosity and personal experience left me motivated to finding new ways of being helpful and effective as a mental health professional.

This past summer, I decided to transition to private practice and left my role as an in-home counselor. During my transition phase, I studied for and achieved my national certification in personal training. Throughout the process, the American Council on Exercise emphasized the role of the trust and positive relationship between the client and the trainer, which echoed my training to become a resident in counseling. I found that I was studying the same principals and my career goals become clear. I am now happy to say that I can provide both physical and mental health services to help improve whole-person wellness. The research shows that physical and mental health are interrelated and improving one leads to positive outcomes for the other.

So how does this work for you? If you chose to supplement your counseling services with personal training, I will tailor workouts to you and your goals to help you be happier and healthier inside and out. I have an online bank of videos that can be put together to show you exactly what you need to be doing and what exercises pair well together. There is also a possibility of one-on-one sessions, should the necessary space be available near your home.
